Review of Volupte.

7-9 Norwich St  London, Greater London EC4A 1EJ
020 7831 1622

VOLUPTE is a quirky supper club offering live cabaret, magic, theatre and comedy performances.

The dining area downstairs is filled with 1920s jazz music and pictures of iconic figures like Jessica Rabbit.

It is dimly lit with a mini living room in one corner with miniature chairs. The quirky theme continues with lamp shades shaped like a dress and waitresses dressed as maids.

For an afternoon show, there is finger sandwiches including smoked salmon and.......

CINNAMON Kitchen, the sister restaurant of the famous Cinnamon Club in Westminster, shows no signs of letting up on the sibling rivalry.

While its brother attracts the political class,  Cinnamon Kitchen is a stone's throw away from the capital's financial hub so expect a buzzing and lively atmosphere with lots of people suited and booted.

The dining room is a large and bright open -planned area.......

DISHOOM has a strong identity with walls adorned with film posters of golden oldies and photos of Bollywood legends.

The dimly-lit dining area even has a clock resembling the one in Victoria Terminus in Bombay.

There is a strong nostalgic feel to the menu which will whisk you from bustling London to Bombay with classic drinks like Thums up in a bottle.

The menu is dominated by dishes you can.......

Britain’s top Indian restaurants have told EE they have created festive dishes with an Indian twist to get more people eating out over the holidays.
There has been little festive cheer for some restaurants due to more competition, the miserable state of the economy and tougher immigration laws which have affected hiring chefs from south Asia.
Michelin-star restaurant Tamarind in London is offering squid rings, kingfish and green-lip mussels in a spiced gram flour batter served with chutney, while Lasan in Birmingham has Royal-approved.......

Namaaste Kitchen is a modern Indian grill and bar in trendy Camden, north London. The narrow dining room has impressive dim lighting and decor.

There are three jam-packed Christmas menus offering festive dishes inspired by Mumbai street food to Parsi cuisine.

I started with the Anglo-Indian chicken liver on toast which has an acquired taste. The tandoori granny smith apple was hard, and tough to chop up, but had a pleasantly.......

Restaurant Review: Mr Todiwala's Kitchen

Cyrus Todiwala's new venture may have just paid off

By Imran Choudhury

EATING like an emperor whilst sitting against silk cushions is only reserved for the privileged -  but not in Mr Todiwala’s Kitchen.

The classy restaurant based at the Hilton London in Heathrow’s Terminal five has pulled out the big guns with its evocative and luxurious decor which brings to mind the Mughal Emperors of India.

The name of the restaurant stems from the chef Cyrus Todiwala, who is the co-owner with his wife Pervin Todiwala of the award-winning restaurant, Café Spice Namaste in East London.

It has a classy decor to attract the City Slickers with sculptures of a deer’s head on the wall, paintings by artists including Andy Warhol and even a 3D painting of a moving gondola boat.

There is also a live jazz band after 9pm which creates a lively atmosphere. Look out for star names with BBC TV presenter Jools Holland and sixties legend Sandie Shaw having performed there this year.

So it is little surprise the menu boasts.......
