FIRST it was jeans, then the humble hamburger, now burrito restaurants are the latest US invention to make its way

  across the pond.

Chipotle, which has over 1,300 restaurants in the States, is expanding its empire across the capital.

Its main offering is foil-wrapped burritos stuffed with either Freedom Foods chicken, pork that comes from

free-range pigs, beef from Farm Assured British Farms or vegetables.

There are also tacos, burrito bowls - a burrito without a tortilla - and salads.

My partner went for the chicken option, crammed with pinto black beans, sour cream, brown rice and cheese which

  makes an ideal snack.

I went for the vegetarian buritto consisting of white rice, cheese, sour cream and crunchy peppers.

It is better to have a side dish with it like the guacamole - packed with jalapenos - with a bag of tortillas.

A good drink to wash it down with is pomegranate and rasberry fizzy drink. But it was a shame that there are no

desserts to cap off the meal.

The central London branch is busy in the evenings with manager Everton Skerritt taking a hands-on role in the hi-tec kitchen featuring a
combi oven and robocoupe machine to make the sauces.

Overall, in such a busy and competitive part of the capital, Chipotle stands out from the crowd.
