PRIDE OF ASIA 207 Mile end road, London, E1 4AA 020 7780 9321 www.prideofasia.com 4 stars. PRIDE of Asia is a bold and audacious name for a restaurant – but it does tick all the boxes to guarantee an enjoyable meal to keep out the chill. The restaurant is situated a stone's throw away from Stepney Green station in east London, on a street bustling with shops and cafes. Once inside, you will enjoy the quiet and cosy setting with a long room for the dining area, and the buffet zone tucked away at the front. The buffet is ideal for diners who like to try a bit of everything and are a tad indecisive when it comes to cuisine. Thankfully, the small team of waiters have politeness in abundance and were more than happy to recommend which dishes to sample. Pride of Asia offers a range of piping hot Indian and Bangladeshi dishes including fish curry, chicken jalfrezi, aloo kheer, lamb curry, and channa daal. The highlights were the chicken jalfrezi which was spicy and contained generous chunks of chicken. Also the fish curry which was bursting with flavour and is a must for seafood lovers. The chef prepared a special chicken dish for us which tantalised the taste buds. The Chinese-style dish was brimming with onions, green chillies, peppers, and spinach to leave a sublime zingy taste. You have to pace yourself though otherwise you can get carried away with the range of dishes. Although our bellies were bursting, there is always space for dessert. And we were glad we did as we enjoyed vanilla ice-cream smothered in chocolate sauce and complemented by exotic fruits. Overall, Pride of Asia is definitely worth a visit for desi buffet enthusiasts.
