Renowned songwriter and producer Naughty Boy and Emeli Sandé will perform at the BBC Proms Late Night with Asian Network later this month.
The East meets West For A Night will feature contemporary and classic Bollywood fused with mainstream beats underpinned by the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Richard Davis.
Indian singers Benny Dayal and Palak Muchhal will also perform at the event at the Royal Albert Hall next Wednesday (22).
Sandé will join Naughty Boy for a performance of Lifted in an orchestral arrangement with the BBC Philharmonic.
Naughty Boy said: “I couldn’t do anything as important as the BBC Proms without Emeli. Having her next to me is simply the icing on the cake.”
The Prom will also include an orchestral performance of Naughty Boy’s hit single La La La, as well as the first live performance of a new track, Runnin’, with Arrow Benjamin, orchestrated for the BBC Philharmonic.
Indian playback singer Kanika Kapoor will join the producer to perform Bollywood classics from films including Kabhie Kabhie and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
It marks the 50th anniversary this year of Asian Programmes on the BBC and launches a new series of Proms performances curated in collaboration with six BBC national radio stations – 6 Music, Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, Radio 2 and Radio 4.
The performance will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and the Asian Network. It will also be available to watch live via the red button, as well as online.
The world’s largest classical music festival opens at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday (17), and offers two months of performances from many of the world’s greatest artists, composers, orchestras and ensembles across 92 concerts.
