Kabali: The excitement surrounding the south Indian film is reaching fever pitch, with the trailer having been viewed more than 20 million times and the music rights being sold for a whop- ping amount. Distributors have also been battling it out to acquire the film rights for the action drama starring Rajinikanth (above) as an ageing gangster. The red-hot film will be released globally on July 1.
Waiting: The low-budget drama starring Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin received positive reviews after its recent release in India. The Anu Menon directed drama about two people coping with loss and grief also received positive word of mouth, and has done well in cinemas despite having a limited run. Don’t be surprised if this little gem pops up at more film festivals around the world.
Randeep Hooda: The impressive range of the in-demand actor was demonstrated by this hot photograph he shared on social media, which sent the internet into meltdown. It sho- wed off the muscu- lar 95-kg physique he acquired for his latest film Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, which is in stark contrast to his skeletal 65-kg frame in his highly acclaimed role in recent release Sarbjit. The versatility hasn’t gone unnoticed by filmmakers, who are all lining up to sign him.
Udta Punjab: The hotly anticipated film has run into major censor problems in India because of the excessive swearing and drug consumption in it. According to reports, the censor board has asked for as many as 40 cuts, which could lead to a delay in the film being released and more likely, take the edge off a film revolving around drug abuse in Punjab. The episodic drama stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, Alia Bhatt (above) and Shahid Kapoor.
Veerappan: The dacoit drama didn’t meet the expectations generated by the trailer and received mostly negative reviews. Unlike films from Ram Gopal Varma’s heyday, Veerappan didn’t get a wide release and when the final calculations are done, it will be chalked up as another failure for the maverick filmmaker.
Arbaaz Khan (left): Film producers have largely turned their backs on the actor and he has also been experiencing marital problems. The only project he seems to have on the way is low-budget romance Tera In-ezaar opposite Sunny Leone and that is un- likely to reignite his fast-cooling acting career.
