The Delhi Dynamos
The Delhi Dynamos will play a high-profile friendly against Premier League side West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on September 3.
The Indian Super League (ISL) team, coached by former Italian World Cup winner Gianluca Zambrotta, will be based in Birmingham for their UK trip and also take on non-league outfit Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday (August 30).
The Dynamos will then travel to Sweden to continue their pre-season preparations, with three more friendlies, including one with domestic giants BK Häcken, planned before returning home in mid-September.
“The pre-season camp is the most critical time for a team. It will not only help the players to bond and build professional relationships, but will also give them the opportunity to practice together and understand each other’s tactics and temperaments on the field,” Zambrotta said.
“I am looking forward to the pre-season as I will be seeing most of the players in action for the first time. It will allow me to build on future formations.
“It will be encouraging for my fairly young squad to play against their European counterparts, and come back with an enriched experience which will definitely give us an edge for our season ahead.”
Last year, the Dynamos reached the ISL semi-finals under the guidance of ex-Brazilian superstar Roberto Carlos.
They boasted Italian great Alessandro Del Piero for the inaugural 2015 season and this season have ex- Premier League stars Florent Malouda and John Arne Riise in their ranks.
