One of the UK’s leading online education providers has expanded into India to support the country’s ambitious skills agenda.
Mansfield-based bksb – a global supplier of eLearning solutions for English, maths and ICT – has set up a head office and training centre in Chandigarh as part of its vision to improve the English language skills of people across the subcontinent.
Operating in India as Skills Anytime, the company’s online products have been tailored for the Indian market to enhance people’s career prospects and opportunities for further study. The internet-based flexible learning tool allows users to boost their English language skills by finding out where their weaknesses are before working through a series of online tutorials in order to attain the required level.
It is hoped the educational software will contribute to the Indian government’s ambition of training 500 million people by 2022.
The education provider is a subsidiary of the West Nottinghamshire College Group – one of the largest and most successful education and training providers in the UK, which is headed-up by award-winning principal and chief executive Dame Asha Khemka.
This month, bksb hosted a launch event where guests, including Justice Mahesh Mittal Kumar, former chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir, saw products and met the Chandigarh-based team.
Dame Khemka added: “As an Indian, I am proud of the pace of change and the economic growth of our great nation. I feel humbled to contribute to the ambitious and exciting skills agenda which will underpin India’s continued success.”
