In the UK, a record-breaking 60,000 worshippers descended upon Small Heath Park in Birmingham to read the morning prayers yesterday.
The festival is celebrated by Muslims the world over to mark the end of another month of Ramadan where believers fast during daylight hours.
To accommodate the men women and children in the park, miles of plastic sheeting was spread out in rows along the grass. Some families keen to make the important prayer session were caught in a four-mile long traffic jam as Muslims queued to get into the park.
