Anushka Sharma on Sultan and her character in it…
“This is a love story about two wrestlers who have only seen one type of life. They understand each other’s ups and downs because they are both in the same sport.
“In a way, it’s a relationship of equals – when you watch the film you will see that. It is about two wrestlers and how they understand each other really really well. They understand each other’s downs as well as their highs.
“My character says that some- times, when you start focusing on one thing too much in life, you forget some important things along the way. So you get to see the way their love story goes up and down and how it impacts the story and how it impacts him in the film.
“Luckily there were no injuries because I had a good team of a trainer and a physio overseeing my workout. I was kind of prepared before I started shooting for the film. But you are aware in cases like these injuries can happen. Somebody who is an athlete in a particular sport has been doing that for their entire life. We get like six weeks, which is how long I got to prepare for the role, so obviously we could expect some kind of injuries, but by god’s grace, everything was fine.
“That is one thing that I would like to stress about – is the kind of work that goes into wrestling, which I think we haven’t seen before. The kind of training that goes into it. I am happy that I got to experience it as part of my life experience. I am going to hold it very closely.”
