Detectives investigating the murder of a mother found dead at her home have arrested a man.
Usha Patel, 44 from Cricklewood, north London was found dead at the home she shared with her son.
Miles Donnelly, 34, was charged on Sunday (11) with murder and appeared on Monday (12) in custody at West Hendon Magistrates’ Court.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a post-mortem examination found that Patel died from “strangulation”.
Her son, who is believed to be aged five and suffering from autism, was seen holding the hand of a police community support officer outside his home after the body was found.
Neighbour Sali Aboudali said her child went to school with Patel’s son and he would spend weekends with his father.
“She was a very nice lady,” she told the Evening Standard. “She invited me to a Zumba class. She was very friendly. All the neighbours listened to her singing.
“Her son depended on her for everything. She said he had autism.”
