Yoga activities: Sadhguru led events at the UN headquarters in New York
LEADING spiritual saint Sadhguru led a yoga session at the UN headquarters in New York to mark the second International Day of Yoga on June 20 and 21.
Dignitaries took part in a session of Upa-yoga at the event organised by the permanent mission of India to the UN in association with the word body’s Department of Public Information. The president of the UN general assembly, Morgens Lykketoft, was the chief guest at the event.
Sadhguru said, “It’s truly revolutionary for United Nations to take up Yoga as a way of bringing transformation in the world because without transforming individual human beings there is no way to transform the world.
“This effort to take Yoga to every human being on the planet is about fulfilling the human longing for health, well-being and pursuit of fulfillment through logically correct and scientifically verifiable system.”
Among high-profile guests at the event were under secretary general for communications and public information, Cristina Gallach, senior UN officials as well as ambassadors and dignitaries from countries.
On Monday (June 20), the Permanent Mission of India to the UN organised a special event titled “Conversation with Yoga Masters - Yoga for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
